50p coins: 329 coins, 1969–2026
The 50p entered circulation in October 1969 as the first seven-sided coin in British change and was reduced to its present size in 1997. The Royal Mint has used it for more commemorative designs than any other denomination, from the 1973 EEC coin onwards, which is why it is the coin people check their change for. Every 50p in the Florin House catalogue is listed here with its mintage where known and its current value.
329 coins are listed here, 106 in circulation condition and 223 brilliant uncirculated or proof. Mintages run from 1,039 to 456,464,100 across the 290 coins with a known mintage. Values run from £0.49 to £329.00 across the 305 coins with a value. 64 Florin House collectors hold at least one of them. 154 values imported from Numista, latest dated 26 September 2026; 175 estimated.
