£1 coins: 70 coins, 1984–2026
The round £1 coin replaced the pound note in 1983 and was demonetised in October 2017, when the twelve-sided bimetallic coin with its latent-image security feature took over. Round pounds carried a rotating series of national and heraldic reverses; the twelve-sided coin has carried the Nations of the Crown design and, from 2023, the bees of the King Charles III definitive.
