2018 Canada Elizabeth II with RCM logo 10 Cents Proof : présentation (texte en anglais)

It pairs the Queen's mature effigy by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt with the stylised maple leaf logo of the Royal Canadian Mint. The logo appears on the obverse beneath the portrait and replaced the earlier "P" mark that had signified plated composition, a change that reflected the Mint's confidence in branding its own coinage and its pioneering multiply plating technology. Struck in nickel plated steel composed of 92% steel, 5.5% copper and 2.5% nickel, the coin showcases the durable and economical process the Mint developed at its Winnipeg facility. That process has since been adopted for coinage worldwide. The reverse retains Emanuel Hahn's celebrated rendering of the Bluenose, the legendary Nova Scotia fishing and racing schooner that has graced this denomination for generations and endures as one of Canada's most cherished national symbols. Blunt's portrait, the first of the Queen created by a Canadian artist to appear on the nation's coinage, depicts Elizabeth II without a crown. This rendering gives the series a warm and approachable character that sets it apart from earlier effigies. For collectors, the type holds particular appeal as part of the closing era of Elizabeth II coinage in Canada, offering an accessible way to study the subtle shifts in mint marks, finishes and production between the Ottawa and Winnipeg facilities. It also preserves a tangible link to the longest reign in Canadian history.
