1999 Canada Elizabeth II February 25 Cents

Über 1999 Canada Elizabeth II February 25 Cents (Text auf Englisch)

Struck at the Winnipeg facility in pure nickel, this coin carries the theme "Etched in Stone," a design by Lonnie Springer that evokes the ancient rock art of Canada's Indigenous peoples and honours the earliest human expressions on the land. The stylised figures recall the petroglyphs and pictographs found across the country, linking the modern coinage of Canada to traditions of storytelling far older than the nation itself. The obverse bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pédery-Hunt, framing the reverse within the familiar portraiture of her reign. Because the series originated from a nationwide design competition, each reverse reflects the vision of an individual Canadian, which gives the set a distinctly personal and democratic character.
