2015 Bahamas 25 Cents

Über 2015 Bahamas 25 Cents (Text auf Englisch)

The reverse carries one of the most evocative motifs in Caribbean numismatics, a Bahamian sloop under full sail, honouring the traditional wooden sailing vessels that have long served the archipelago in fishing, interisland trade, and the celebrated regattas that remain a source of national pride. The obverse displays the national coat of arms, with its supporting marlin and flamingo, the conch shell crest, and the motto "Forward, Upward, Onward, Together," a design choice that reflects the nation's identity as an independent Commonwealth realm rather than relying on a royal portrait. For collectors, this type offers an accessible way to study the shift toward plated steel compositions that has swept through many world coinages, and its ready attraction to a magnet distinguishes it from its cupronickel predecessors. Its maritime imagery, consistent design, and connection to Bahamian heritage make it an appealing addition to collections focused on Caribbean coinage, nautical themes, or the production work of the Royal Canadian Mint for foreign governments.
