This is the 1998 Circulation issue with a mintage of 1,407,300. Despite being produced in their millions and being available at face value from most post offices, banks and the Royal Mint, the ordinary business strike was a Royal Mint commemorative issue and not intended for general circulation. Issued in the 1998 Annual Proof set the coin was also issued in a Brilliant Uncirculated individual pack and was also struck in silver proof and gold proof.
