About the 1969 Australia Elizabeth II 50 Cents BU (Dodecagonal, Blue Wallet)

The Elizabeth II 2nd Portrait dodecagonal fifty cent coin, minted in Australia in 1969, is notable for its distinct twelve-sided shape, which was introduced to distinguish the fifty cent denomination from other coins and to prevent counterfeiting. The coin features the second effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Arnold Machin, which captures her profile with a sense of realism that appealed to the public. Composed of 75 percent copper and 25 percent nickel, this coin not only serves as a piece of currency but also reflects the changing materials and designs in Australian coinage.
