This is the 1985 BU issue with a mintage of 178,375. No five pence coins of the larger type were struck for circulation between 1981 and 1987, as well as in 1990, because pre-decimal shillings continued to circulate with a decimal value of five pence after decimalisation on 15th February 1971. Both the shillings and these larger five pence coin were finally demonetised at the end of 1990 following the introduction of the smaller five pence piece.
