This is the 1984 BU issue with a mintage of 158,820. In 1982, eleven years after Decimalisation Day on 15th February 1971, the word NEW was removed from the denomination on the reverse, so the legend now reads TEN PENCE. From 1982 to 1991, no ten pence coins were struck for circulation since the pre-decimal florins, with a value of 10p, were still circulating as part of the decimalisation process. Consequently, this type can only be found in Royal Mint annual Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof sets. Florins, along with this larger 10p type, were demonetised in 1993 after the introduction of the smaller 10p piece.
